The touch system also has to interpret what's happening on the surface correctly. A splash shouldn't become an instruction. A wet finger should.

Sometimes the thing giving a touch screen trouble is completely invisible. Motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), inverters, welders and other industrial electrical equipment can create electromagnetic interference and electrical noise.
