Outdoor environments typically have high levels of ambient light, which can affect screen visibility. The UICO outdoor touch screen is equipped with high-brightness displays (1K NIT plus), anti-glare and antireflective coatings, UV Ink and even optional IR Films (InfraRed) to ensure visibility even in direct sunlight.

 

UICO’s outdoor touch screens are designed with the following:

• Durability:

An outdoor touch screen must be designed to be rugged and durable, capable of withstanding physical impact, vandalism, and other potential abuses. The screens may be made of tough materials such as tempered glass or chemically strengthened glass that be  as thick a 10MM.

 

• Temperature Control:

UICO’s touchscreens are rated -40 to 85 degrees, However, sometimes an outdoor touch screen need mechanisms to control the internal temperature to prevent overheating or freezing. This may involve cooling fans, heaters, or other climate control features.

 

• Optical Bonding

For outdoor usage, a full optical bond is recommended. It reduces the light transmission losses caused by the transition from glass to air and air to glass that are present when a perimeter bond is used. The Optically Clear Adhesives (OCAs) used by UICO minimize these losses for improved readability, even in bright sunlight.

Cover Lens for Outdoor Touch Screen

We select a cover lens designed for optimal readability and performance in tough conditions four our outdoor touchscreens. Glass thickness is tailored to each application for the best combination of durability and weight. UICO can offer fully tempered “safety” glass up to 4mm thick for cases where sharp breaks would be dangerous or a thinner Gorilla Glass® where lightweight portability matters most. Coatings such as matte Anti-Glare, Anti-Reflective, or Anti-Fingerprint provide optimal readability in bright sunlight while also shedding water for superior performance during a downpour.

Touch Sensor for Outdoor Applications

UICO custom designs their sensors and touch surfaces to meet your demanding outdoor applications such as wayfinding and outdoor digital signage. The UICO true value is that we uniquely program and tune the touchscreen to operate flawlessly in your environment. We have the capability to design touchscreens usable with heavy work gloves or and in the pouring rain. UICO engineering can program them to be immune to false touch from those same raindrops but yet be sensitive enough for reliable dry touch.

 

Sunlight Readable Touch Display

UICO offers a variety of brands and sizes of LCDs with high brightness over 1000 nits, wide viewing angles, directional polarization, and superior resolution. Options such as Sleep Mode and Ambient Light Sensor can be added for the most efficient power usage in remote outdoor locations.
